Downey student musicians gain real-world experience in LA studio recording mariachi songs

Young musicians from Downey had a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in the professional music industry when they recorded their music in a Los Angeles studio on Tuesday. This event was part of the Downey Unified School District’s Mariachi Program, which offers students the chance to delve into their cultural roots through music.

The students, ranging from 6th to 8th grade, participated in a two-day field trip to Decibel Studios Los Angeles. The studio visit allowed them to play and record traditional Mexican folk music, an experience that was both educational and culturally enriching.
